The Demon, The Box and The Angels. Part 2

GAs The Doctor knelt down besides the creature, feeling the steam rise from its body into her face as the rain fell onto both of them, she was already certain of one thing: they were not alone in the crater. UNIT had been right. She looked around, the explosion which had apparently heralded the arrival of this creature had been large enough to borrow three meters into the earth. The heat were she was kneeling was enough that she could feel the soil turning to ash and the smell the hem of her coat singe where it touched the ground. She leant forward and pulled herself up to the creature's eye level.

"Now, my friend, let's see why everything here feels a little off...besides the squadron of armed unit soldiers up there."

She lifted the cane from the ground beside her and placed the silver handle firmly onto the creature's chest. It began to buzz and hum softly. After a second or two, the familiar symbols etched themselves along the length of the cane. She lifted it to her face.

"So....we have ash, obviously, silicon particles, heat sources off the charts, again, not surprising, given your entrance, and....Two sets of DNA? One from outside this dimension... And the other....hang on.."

She pulled herself back up to the creature's eye level again, and this time she could see what she'd been missing: the sheer panic in the creature's eyes. She stood up and wheeled around, calling out the soldiers at the edge of the crater.

"I need a medical team down here now!"

The throng of people at the lip of the crater began to rapidly shift and small group in Hazard suits began to make their way down to towards them, quickly and cautiously. The Doctor turned back to her charge.

"Listen, I know you can hear me April. The Sonic is linked to the Tardis and it remembers everyone who been in close contact with it.... But what are you doing here, like this?" Just as she was beginning to formulate a hypothesis, she felt the energy build in her body, pain, shooting down the left side of her body from the head. She glanced down to her left hand to see the golden light glowing just below the surface of the skin.

"No, not now!" She clamped her other hand down on top of the Sonic cane and tried to focus.

The medical team arrived with stretcher and scanners, crowding around them, The body containing the mind of April McLean was obscured, even as it struggled against the quickly placed restraints and tried to reach out towards The Doctor, who was too busy trying to force the energy back inside herself to notice. Before she could regain herself she could feel her body being forced  gently into the seat of what felt like a wheelchair. She finally lost consciousness and Doctor, demon and medical team made their way slowly back to the top of the crater, where the blue box waited in the distance.
